Editorial standards
Trust is the whole product. These are the rules every story on Himilo Post is held to before it is published.
Last updated 27 October 2026
What we cover
Himilo Post reports on artificial intelligence, technology, startups, energy and industry across Africa, and on the good news that is too often missed. We publish fewer stories so that each can be reported properly. A global company appears on our pages when its decisions change something for African builders, businesses or infrastructure, and the story says what that is.
Sourcing and verification
- Every story is built from primary sources wherever they exist: company and government statements, filings, regulators' decisions, earnings calls and datasets.
- A new, surprising or market-moving claim needs two independent, reputable sources. A copy of the same article on another site is not a second source.
- Every figure, name, title and date is traced to its source before publication. If a detail cannot be verified, it is cut.
- Quotations are word for word from a published, on-the-record source, and we say where and when they were said. We never invent, merge or tidy a quote.
- We say who reported what, and we link to the sources a reader can check.
Fact and analysis
Reported facts are sourced. Our reading of what those facts mean is written as our reading — the reader should always be able to tell the difference. Where there is a strong argument against our reading, the story includes it.
How we use AI
Himilo Post uses AI tools to help research and draft stories. That makes checking more important, not less. Before a story can be published, a separate verification step checks every claim, figure and quotation against its source, and anything that cannot be confirmed is fixed or removed. Then a human editor reads and approves every story. Nothing on Himilo Post is published automatically.
Fairness
We write about people and companies the way we would want to be written about: accurately, in context, and with their own published explanation where one exists. A company in difficulty is never a punchline.
Images
We publish only images we have the right to use, most often from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licences, and credit each one with its author and licence. When an image shows something other than the exact subject of the story — a city, a similar plant, an earlier event — the caption says so. We do not use news-agency photographs without a licence, and we never pass off a look-alike as the real thing.
Independence, sponsors and affiliate links
Himilo Post is owned and published by Fandhaal Studio LLC. No one pays for coverage, and no advertiser, sponsor or partner sees a story before it is published. Himilo Post has no sponsors today; when it does, these rules apply:
- A sponsor buys a clearly labelled place beside our journalism — never a story or a headline.
- No sponsor appears beside a story in which it is the subject.
- Some links to products or services may earn us a commission. They are chosen on merit, marked as sponsored in the page code, and never change what we write.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we correct it openly. Our corrections policy explains how, and how to tell us.
