Privacy policy
We collect very little: your email address if you subscribe, and anonymous statistics about which stories are read. We do not sell data, run ads or track you for advertising.

Who we are
Himilo Post (www.himilopost.com) is published by Fandhaal Studio LLC, a company registered in Ohio, United States. We decide how the information described here is used. For any privacy question or request, write to editor@himilopost.com.
What we collect, and why
If you subscribe to the newsletter
We store your email address, the date you signed up, the newsletter's language and the part of the site you signed up from. We use them for one thing: sending you the Himilo Post newsletter. We have not sent an issue yet; when we do, every email will carry a link to unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete your address at any time before then, or after. For readers in the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the legal basis is your consent, which you give by subscribing and can withdraw at any time.
When you read the site
- Google Analytics 4. It tells us which stories are read, roughly where readers are (country or city, never a street address), which devices and browsers they use, and how they found us. Outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it sets cookies to tell new visits from returning ones. In those regions, analytics cookies are switched off by default, and Google receives only signals without cookies. We use these figures to decide what to cover; we do not use them for advertising. Google keeps this data for no longer than 14 months. Google explains its own handling in how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can block Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on.
- Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights. Our host counts page views and measures how fast pages load. These tools use no cookies and report only totals.
- Delivery and security logs. Our host, Vercel, sees your IP address and the page you asked for, as every website's servers do. It uses them to deliver pages and stop attacks, and keeps them for a limited period under its own policies.
What we do not collect
There are no reader accounts, no comments, no payment details and no advertising trackers on Himilo Post. We never sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Cookies
_gaand_ga_*— Google Analytics, to tell new visits from returning ones. Up to two years. Not set by default in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland.himilo_studio— keeps our editors signed in to the private newsroom for 12 hours. It is never set for readers.
Who processes data for us
- Vercel (United States) hosts the website.
- Neon stores our database, including newsletter addresses, on servers in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Cloudflare (United States) runs our domain name system (DNS).
- Google (United States) runs Google Analytics.
Each processes data under its own data-protection terms, which cover transfers out of the European Union and the United Kingdom. We disclose personal information to anyone else only if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Newsletter addresses: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete yours. Analytics: no longer than 14 months. Hosting and security logs: as long as Vercel keeps them, usually days or weeks.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent. Write to editor@himilopost.com; we will answer within 30 days. If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you can also complain to your data-protection authority. If you are in California: we do not sell or share personal information, and we will not treat you differently for using your rights.
Children
Himilo Post is written for adults and is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has given us their email address, tell us and we will delete it.
Security
Every page is served over an encrypted connection, and access to our database is limited to the systems that run the site. No method of storing data is perfectly secure, but we keep what we hold to the minimum, which is the best protection there is.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of the page. If a change affects how we use your email address, we will tell newsletter subscribers before it takes effect.
